My new 08 Ultra just arrived at the dealership. She's going to be upgraded to 103 inches. Stage II kit with the cams. My dealer has recommended Kerker pipes and I've chosen SE 6" slash cut end caps for them. The dealer also recommends the V & H Fuel Pak. Can anyone foresee a problem with this set-up? I've been reading about PC IIIs, SERTs, heat issues, tunability, warranty problems etc. and it's left me a little confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I second Phil's comment on SERT! Yes, you can try to save money upfront by getting these so-called "electronic-no tuning" boxes. But, in the long run, it's going to cost you more. I have been seeing more and more people having problems with their 'boxes' and now are reconsidering SERT!
Now, this is also a hit-or-miss issue! Some boxes may run for a long time and never have any issues. But, from what I'm seeing lately, these boxes are not delivering what they're promised! Remember, any electronic box that is mounted on your HD will be susceptible to vibration, heat, and moisture! Try to put your laptop computer in your saddlebag for a month and see if it will not take a beating!
I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for making these comments! Just my personal observation, that's all!

"If" you have someone capable of tuning a SERT, that would be the best bet now and long term.
Just got finished talking to the dealership. Apparently using a SERT will void my engine warranty as it is supposed to be for "off road" use only. Let's just say I'm not prepared to do this yet. How about Thunder Max? Forgot to ask them if this would void the warranty as well. Anybody know? The dealership tells me they will install at PC III if I absolutely insist but that they have had nothing but positive feedback from their Fuel Pak users. I've been searching through this forum and learned that most people agree on one thing . . . . that a Fuel Pak is only suitable for a Stage I upgrade and not a Stage II with cams as I plan to do. Can anyone tell me why? If I don't want to void the warranty by using a SERT, what is my next best option?
