Hey what about all those HOG meetings no one goes to or those great weekend cookouts the stealer wants you to slave at to get him more business or the closed rides just for HOG members? On second thought, I don't need no stinkin' badges! I ain't renewin'.
I could never get anyone to answer the freakin phone. The renewal letters go from my mailbox to the trash can...............AAA for me.
We had a break down last year on a road trip, we were in Mass. and couldn't get a answer from HOG either, very disappointed. BTW my buddy had AAA, thats who broke down, they don't cover motorcycles in their roadside assistance he tells me. You may want to call your agent and double check.
I went on a 5k trip with a budand his bike quit 176 miles from the closest dealer. Hog is slow, but he got towed and hog kicked in the $100 towards the bill, the next day I had a flat 15 miles from the dealer and hog towed it for $0 like they should. We found out after that the deluxe plan (19.95) covers 100% of the bill instead of $100 1/time a year. $20 was a cheap piece of mind for me.
AAA offers Motorcycle/RV premium service.. It does cover motorcycles. I've never used it for my a bike, but for the RV they towed me home once for nothing (like 50 miles). It's worth the couple bucks extra for the year. Just one tow and it's worth the renewal. Good peace of mind. I've always had AAA for roadside and for car insurance. They are the easiest company to get on the phone and are extremely helpful! Would not even bother to call HOG if I broke down. I don't plan to renew after my free first year...
I got a flat tire and I called hog for a tow and I got some person who could barely speak english. I was put on hold for a long while so I gave up and hung up. I finally called a friend that lived close by and he came with a portable air tank . I was able to put enough air in the tire to make it to his house. I bought a small air pump and some plugs that I carry in my bags.
It seems with a couple exceptions, HOG membership didn't help the distressed biker. It seems HOG is just another way to get inside your pocket. I insure my bike with Progressive and they offer a great roadside service.
