I was in Germany a few months ago and gas was around $7 a gallon. I saw lot of little cars and a lot of motorcycles. Also saw a lot of people on bicycles. The profits do seem to be a little excessive. Nothing the little guy can do about it. I wonder who has the most expensive gas in the world.

Exxon is a publicly traded company, and probably pays dividends, too. I'll pass along what Mr. White, live-fire branch Ft. Campbell said: "I've never cashed a check from a poor man." If you hate 'em so much, walk. [zopi--obviously this comment isn't directed at you ]

Wait until the EU guys and gals start telling you how much THEY pay for gas, and their countries are friendlier towards OPEC nations that the US. The huge increases are partially due to TAX increases, like good ol' NC.

Now that I think of it, Exxon should be able to afford the fines for the Exxon-Valdez now.

Not to go against the grain here, and the oil companies sure don't need me defending them, but can you imagine how much it costs to continue trying to find an ever shrinking supply of oil...especially under the ocean floor. After it is found, they still have to invest millions to build the platforms/pumping rigs.

An ever increasing portion of the cost of gas is going to taxes and that makes me much more angry than private industry trying to supply America with the cheapest fuel in the world.

OK, flame away (pun intended).
I'm not going to flame you, but.... the country is not now nor has it ever been in a fuel crisis. The planet has more fuel under ground, in the dirt (sand oil) and off shore then the price of crude has made enough money to make it profitable to go get. Just in our north west and in Canada enough oil exists that we could pull the plug on all mid eastern oil. This "fact" is available through reading the US Geological Surveys. And Canada is now in such a ramp up in extracting "HIGH" grade crude from oil sand they stand to reap Billions just selling it the US! China is even wanting to get into it. The "most" conservitive estimat as to the reserve in Canada ALONE is at 2 more centurys. Thats 200 years.

The oil companys had set many years ago the magical $60.oo per barrel of crude price as that necessary to be attained and past to make further fuel exploration profitable. Well were past that so now lets start burning more oil folks. Those oil men are sure pleading poverty can't you hear them? Sure we have some of the least expensive fuel costs in the world, except Brazil and the mid east, because we are a constant user.

And the only reason that I think we are in the middle east right now is to be the oil police for the planet. Can you imagine what would happen when China walks over to the middle east and setup up shop because they are in need of MORE fuel then they can import or produce. You can do the math, with in the next 5 years China is going to be at a point they will be a force to be reconned with, its NOT time for us to pull out yet! Check the news and see just how much that country is growing. Its very fuel dependent, and growing right now.

I don't see the price of fuel going down ever again, well maybe a couple cents now and then, but gas less then a $1.00 a gallon maybe even less then $2.00 a gallon are gone, gone, gone in my book. All that I can do is plan for it. I sure hope that I'm wrong about that price of gas per gallon, it just does not look good for the long run anymore.

Thanks oil men, I'm glad that ya'll have had a very profitable year at our expence.

Here is some interesting reading for some of you that aren't exacly "in the know" ...
Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."

The guest on his television program beamed across Venezuela was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist/communist revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a communist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal!

The Venezuela government, run by the dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo gas company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

We know what exxon/mobil's profits were... how much have we supported this A-Hole? Guess I'm no longer getting gas from Citgo. Cancelled my credit card with them today.

The Venezuela issue is bad but just wait til China decides to start throwing there weight around, And its going to be the big US companies thats paying for there own ***-kicking. I'm a IAM union factory worker [same union that built your bike] and I see first hand our jobs leaving this country most going to China. Sombody at the top better wake up. If they keep cutting American jobs who's going to buy the crap there selling. #1 example good old red, white & blue Walmart, Who just a couple of years ago they was pushing buy American, and if you notice all there TV adds are still in red, white & blue. But the buy American push is gone. They are now the USA's #1 importer of China goods. Sure the big guys are making lots of doe right now, But they better enjoy it why they can because you lay with communist flees long enough you going to get bit. The only bad part of that is I hope the lil' guy [us] makes it through. Sorry to get off the oil thing and I hate the price of gas but I'm just glad to still have a job to buy it. You never know next month there maybe some 10 year old kid in a sweat shop in China doing it or maybe doing yours. WAKE-UP!!! Rich guys your whoring us out to the lowest bidder.
