I m looking for a quick release faring that will accomadate my tach.i have a 2007 police roadking i m not interested in a radio just the shell fairing for the winter.i like the look of the roadking but the winters as i get older i m finding colder now than when i was longer
Corbin's Fleetliner is open inside and may accommodate a tach. They are expensive and you have to check your running light mounting hardware. The fairing was not compatible with mine. They bolt on to so not quite quick detach.
I've had the same idea but don't like the idea of spending 1200 to 1500 bucks. I'm sure you could find an old ,or new for that matter, batwing on eBay for a good price and some how fab some brackets to connect the fairing to the windshield quick release brackets. Like the 70's shovels used to have.
I just did an eBay search and there are several outer fairings up for auction at under $50 and a few detachable windshields under $100 as well. 150 bucks, some L brackets from the local hardware store, some paint and you're away riding down the road with that 'Fuc*! Am I good!' feeling.
The Dragonfly bracket moves the tach to the dash just above the speedo. Tach stays on bike whether you have fairing, windshield, or nothing but handlebars.
I have to say, I have a police as well and didn't want to lost my tach, I gave in and lost it. Doesn't bother me at all to ride with out it. I intuitively know what my engine is doing after a few rides. Plus the police tach really takes away from the lines of the road king head light. Looks much cooler with out it.
There were some ads in American Iron for shell fairings that will allow a tach and have no radio. They were around 600 bucks. You can probably find them in old issues on their site.
Ebay had a new seller with that kind of fairing a few weeks ago. You can also use an older HD fairing and fabricate brackets or get them off ebay.
I'm with you, gotta keep the tach. Besides I don't need music as long as hear the engine singing!
