Default Chrome Fork Lock Cover

Hi guys ,

I purchase the chromed fork lock cover for the Roadking Custom . I went over the instructions and I thought Wow this is very easy to install BUT I got a suprize !!

First a remove the "LOCK" "UNLOCK" cap. It's just pops out and presumably then (following the instructions) There are two phillips head screws under that.
Well in my roadking custom there are no phillips head screws under the cap were you can mount the lock cover …...

So now what the **** ? – Did a order the wrong part ? All the roadkning (custom’s) have these phillips head screws Except mine ?

If you have any ideas let me know

May sound stupid, but did you remove the actual plastic lock plate or did you just peel off the decal on top of it? Also your scoot a 94 and later correct?

Seems to be a RK custom issue. Also mine has rivets instead of screws... seems indeed easy... but what next: drill the things out?

I installed this.

Remove the plastic cover by prying it off with a small screwdriver.

Take the two phillips screws that come with the kit. Place the rubber gasket and the lock cover on. Screw in.

That simple.

The kit comes with the screws, they don't already exist.

Default Still searching for a way to remove the rivets

ftanner... I believe we got so far... if you read the previous postings: there are rivets where we should screw in the screws.

He didn't mention a thing about rivets. You did. Are you sure he has them?

Default see attached pictures for rivet

When removing the lock plate... there are no screws or holes... but some rivet.
This is for a 2004 RKC.

My '05 RK also has phillips head screws, those look like some kind of shear bolt installed on yours. They use those alot on automotive ignition switches.
