My 07 Ultra has the six spoke wheel. I would assume that the dealer would check all the serial numbers to assure that the IDS will work with that wheel. If it takes an 08 wheel, Harley is going to give me one under warranty. It's their little problem to fix, not mine. I'm going to take it back in to the dealer tomorrow for that problem and a couple of other small items overlooked at the last repair.I have about 2,000 miles left on my back tire before I become uncomfortable with it. I also will need to change front tire. I would like to wait until tire is about gone to get IDS repaired. I hopefully will win the lottery between now and then, so I can pay for tires. Thanks....Bldr
thats where you made your mistake. never assume that the dealer is gonna do anything. if you look at the wheels that the ids does not fit, none of them are stock (except for maybe the 80 spoke laced) so if you go into the dealer to buy the ids and you are not running stock wheels, how is the dealer supposed to know? its kinda your benefit to do the research before you buy the part.
BUT if they are doing the install, then they should know before hand that it is not gonna fit that particular wheel when they are sitting there looking at the bike. 'if it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer' does not apply
A friend of mine install an IDS on his bike 1000 Km later took the wheel off the IDS is all score and falling apart. After futher inspection at the dealer come to find out the IDS doesn't fit all rear wheels on the 07. The 08 wheel is diferent to fit all touring bike.Mine is an FLHT I install one before storing it last fall I will have to take it apart in the spring to see if mine is good.I was told the only other way is to change the back wheel to an 08 wheel so the IDS will fit.Just a heads up guys check your bike if you install one on your 07 model.
Roger.
Thats a complete bunch of BS. Your friends dealer is an idiot and he shouldRUN as fast as he can to another dealer. You gotta love some of these so called techs or service advisors who come up with these ridiculous stories to avoid responsibility. The IDS system fits all 07 touring bikes with HD wheels (and plenty of aftermarket wheells as well). He's got some other problem or a defective product. Either way its Harley's problem, not his.
Isolated Drive System Sprocket Kit
Fits '07 Touring (except Japanese) models equipped with Original Equipment and Harley-DavidsonÂŽ accessory wheels. Will not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black).
Acadien:"His bike is a 07 Street Glide with six spoke wheel"
Mechanic rule No. 1. Installing any component that is not designed for that specific application (wheel) significantly increases the probability of failure.
Even though Harleyis currently being held responsible forunrest in the Middle East and the currrent economic slow down I don't believe they can be held responsible for a failed IDS installed on a wheel that it clearly wasn's designed for. Just my .02
Am i missing something hear???
P.S.: As indicated in my sig, I still believe IDS is the best mod youcan make to an '07 FLH.

The IDS I put on my bike which is a 07 FLHT standard with stock wheel came from Zannoti I will check the PN # of this wheel to make sure its not onthe not fit list.Went I install the IDS I had a hard time fitting my wheel back in place it was a real tight fit I had to pry to fit the last washer which is on the right side of the wheel opposite from the IDS side.Is that normal or should it fit fairly easy.
acadien you did substitute the stock spacer with the thin spacer that comes with the kit am I correct because if you didn't that would be your problem, this spacer goes on the sprocket side and is item #6 on the parts list on the back page of the instructions that came with the kit.
CDN.RG I'm pretty sure I did use the thin spacer but I will check just to make sure because that would make a difference on the tightness of the placement of the wheel.Did you install one and how was the fit after the instalation.
