Default IDS PROBLEM ?

A friend of mine install an IDS on his bike 1000 Km later took the wheel off the IDS is all score and falling apart. After futher inspection at the dealer come to find out the IDS doesn't fit all rear wheels on the 07. The 08 wheel is diferent to fit all touring bike.Mine is an FLHT I install one before storing it last fall I will have to take it apart in the spring to see if mine is good.I was told the only other way is to change the back wheel to an 08 wheel so the IDS will fit.Just a heads up guys check your bike if you install one on your 07 model.

Roger.

How did your friend get it installed if it didn't fit? Mine fit like the directions said it would.

If it was an 08 takeoff (from a trike conversion) then the bearing needs to be replaced. The 08 (25mm) Axel is a different size than the 07 (1").....

My dealership has installed a number of the IDS pulleys on 07 touring bikes and not one has come back with any problem.

His bike is a 07 Street Glide with six spoke wheel went he put his IDS the fit was very tight same as mine we were told the fitting of the back wheel after the IDS install should be just snug.I read in an article that six spoke wheel p/n 43932-02(chrome)and pn 43933 (black) and spoke laced wheel will not fit the IDS.

My 07 Ultra has the six spoke wheel. I would assume that the dealer would check all the serial numbers to assure that the IDS will work with that wheel. If it takes an 08 wheel, Harley is going to give me one under warranty. It's their little problem to fix, not mine. I'm going to take it back in to the dealer tomorrow for that problem and a couple of other small items overlooked at the last repair.I have about 2,000 miles left on my back tire before I become uncomfortable with it. I also will need to change front tire. I would like to wait until tire is about gone to get IDS repaired. I hopefully will win the lottery between now and then, so I can pay for tires. Thanks....Bldr

Isolated Drive System Sprocket Kit

Fits '07 Touring (except Japanese) models equipped with Original Equipment and Harley-DavidsonĀ® accessory wheels. Will not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black).

Seems pretty straight forward, doesn't it.
