Butterflys
No, it's not about pulling their wings off! That's for those annoying flys! One of my favorite smells in the world, is walking into the garage and picking up the scent of gas, oil, exhaust. Yeah I know, 2 words: Seek Help! I've been riding since the mid '60's so I'm lucky enough to have made a few miles fairly intact. One of the few things in life that still give me butterflys in my stomach, is getting ready for a road trip. Walking up to my scoot and saying hello. Feels kind of like a kid waiting for Santa to show up. Doesn't really matter where I'm going, just that I'm going. Anyone else still get that?
I get em days before leaving.....the closer I get to the actual departure time the more calm I get, and once I am out of my home state, I dont look back anymore.
I got butterfly's right now just thinking it will only be a few more weeks until the first local organized ride of the season......I just want everything to be "correct". I want to start getting better acquainted with my new 08' SG.....and as I am typing this, I am thinking about the boxes of parts I have down in my shop all ready to add....I got a boat load of stuff to do, and I need to get my *** in gear, and get to work on it.....with any luck I will have it all done by 04/01.....well everything but the Rinehart TD's, dyno tune, and SERT.
If the SG aint all done.....I can always still have a ball on my SE-Deuce.....all that bike needs is a real good spring cleaning....and that will get done before anything on the SG.
Every time, and for me there is nothing else like it... This coming August 19th will mark 41 years of this unbelievable feeling. I just hope I have another 20 yearsor so in me.

Um, think you need a woman.
Not really. I live in S.E. Asia so when I say "been there, done that, got the T shirt", Trust me I GOT the T shirt! Had to call home after 6 mos and order up some new fantasies but that's for a different forum[]
I know the feeling to well have been riding since the early 60's, and still walk into the shop and talk to the scoot... My wife thinks I am touched but, I really believe if you talk to your scoot it will take care of you...I have a buddy that talks to his all the time but I can't say on the forum what he says some pretty tough words...I really don't think he is using the right words as he has replaced cam bearings and stator and regulator so far...HA Ha So If you have thoughts and want to express them to your scoot try to think postive.... Well enough rambling for one morning....
Hell yeah! I do 4-5 bike trips a year and that feeling of anticipation never goes away. The night before leaving is like Christmas when I was a kid. I love it!
I love the feeling....the first ride of the season is one of the best, but every ride, even if its just going to be a weekend local day-ride as I'm getting ready and checking the bike over that same old feeling and excitment comes on....its great. Getting ready for a longer vacation has me checking the bike over at least a dozen times during the week before we leave....and planning the first vacation trip on a new bike adds more to it.....don't need drugs, my Harley gets me plenty high all by itself.

cmcns - Those "butterflys" are what kept you riding since the mid-60's. Everyprofessional baseball, football, basketball player that's worth a "grain of salt" gets those same feelings before every game (ride). Stay "worth a grain of salt"!
It's an inspiration to us younger (well, maybe not so younger) less experienced riders. Stay cool!
