Looks like another left-wing thread.....first lets blame Bush for everything.....like he or any president can do anything about the price of oil. Then lets blame the oil companies for making a profit.....profit, such a sinful thing, like no other American company makes a profit...and the oil companies profits are inline with, or below the profit margins of most other successful businesses.....why not jump all over Bill Gates for the insane profits Microsoft makes? And "I don't care about how much gas/oil costs in the rest of the world....it shouldn't cost that much here". Wake up and smell the coffee dudes we are a part of the "rest of the world".
I am really not trying to belittle anyone's complaints about energy costs in the U.S., but put the blame where it belongs and that is mostly on those who won't allow oil exploration and drilling, coal gasification and other readily available supplies of fuel or energy to be tapped. On the world-wide side blame OPEC for tight fisted control of how much oil is produced. The competition for the limited supply is only going to increase in the near future, and if the government keeps pushing us in the direction of bio-fuel we will not only be paying more for gas, but all food items too.
The big oil companies are ripping us off . I blame ourElected Officialsfor not stopping this monopoly . It really bothers me , that close to four thousand of our Service Men & Women in the Arm Forces have been killed in Iraq with another thirty thousand wounded .The American people have paid over seven trillion tax dollarsso far in Iraq and this Government won't even consider using the Iraqi Oil .We really need to start calling , emailing and writing our Elected Officials, informing them; this monopoly needs to be stop or the American peopleand this country might go into a depression .
Wouldn't higher gas prices make you want to ride the bike more? I know I can't wait till it gets a little warmer so I can go back to commuting to work on the bike instead of the truck. $60 a pop filling up the truck is painful. And it will only get worse. [:@]

The oil will be released as soon as Cheney (Haliburton) secures the oil well contracts. Before anyone here says Cheney does not work for Haliburton...his defered stock options has risen over 140 percent in the last 3 years. Money on paper until he decides to exercise his stock options. Now thats BS..... He will leave office a very rich man from his "defered stock options".

Oh man....almost didn't want to read these threads until I saw this. Okay, I've stopped laughing now. Let's all stick to Harley's until we all understand that the environmentalists make the refinery/drilling decisions politically for both parties, the US imports over 14% of it's gasoline, and every treasury note sold dilutes the value of a dollar and makes oil/gas cost more. I know it's all very mplicated, but there's no need to jump overboard!

There will come a point where literally everythingwill go up once the trucking industry is able to pass this enormous burden onto us. So look for 20 to 30% increase in every thing on the shelf at some point.
A big-rig costs $1000 to $1200 to fill up nowadays. Operating costs have doubled and no extra freight charges have been allowed generally speaking so far. But believe me they will soon enough. These guys dont drive trucks for the fun of it.
The US economy will be severely effected by all this. We have "the perfect storm" of circumstances going on here... The Dollar crashing, oil prices going thru the stratosphere and the housing market crashing.
Hows this for ya,
Sturgis 3800 miles round trip,
2 F250's pulling toy haulers,
estimate 13-15 MPG
$1400 to $1700 per truck for fuel!!!!!
Talk about rethinking!
" Time to start drilling in Alaska and tell the tree-huggers to F-off... "
Exactly! Declare a National Emergency and order the immediate construction of 3 dozen oil refineries on a 24/7 schedule until operational. Also order the immediate drilling for oil in the western states (I've heard we have as much or more oil under colorado, etc as the arabs do in the middle east), the Gulf and Alaska. Anyone attempting to stop it would be arrested period. This is all a bunch of BS and it's the liberal morons and the EPA who are responsible for it.
