Drill Alaska and off shore Florida.............markets drive price, not Bush or the VP, just easy folks to complain about. Two years ago we invested in oil and services.......... you think this is bad, just wait for a year or so when you want to buy a steak, a hamburger, bread or anything with corn byproducts, soy, wheat, BEER.......... now your talking about sticker shock. You can thankthose who think bio fuel is a good idea. Invest now or whine later. Life is hard, harder when you are poor.
For those rethinking Sturgis... I guess alot of people have, I found 3 rooms in town (Rapid)yesterday when a few months back I could not find anything. Some rough financial times ahead are a coming.......... position yourself if you can.
The suffering is just beginning too. It's gonna get much worse over the next 2 years I'd guess. Further crash of the houseing market, oil, dollar who knows how far that will fall.
So how do you fellows justify RECORD PROFITS.....Plain and simple...where talking record year after year after year. They might be getting squeezed by the arabs but they are squeezing us more.
EVERYBODY JUST CALM DOWN. IT WILL BE ALL BETTER WITH OBAMA AND HILLARY IN OFFICE. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. NOW WE WILL HAVE THE RACE CARD AND THE FEMINIST CARD COVERED. THEN THE PRICE OF OIL WILL MAGICALY DROP WHEN THE DEMOS ARE IN THE OFFICE. AND IF ANYBODY WANTS TO MOVE OUT OF OUR COUNTRY, JUST BECAUSE WE ARE HAVING A ROUGH TIME, THEN GET OUT!!!!! YOU UNAMERICAN ****. LET ME KNOW WHERE TO SEND THE PLANE TICKET, WE DONT NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU HERE.[:@][:@][:@][:@]
I am suspicious of this "record profits" thing with the oil companies. I say go ahead and investigate it and see what the bastards are up to. They're screwing us obviously or profits would not be in the stratosphere. Ifthe marketwere "beyond their control" their profits wouldnt be so insanely high.
For those who argue "let the market do its' thing" well its a crime is what it is- sheer extortion. How about the food stores double or triple their prices? You will PAY for it believe me cuz you have no choice right? It's the same with Gas. Or how about your water company doing the same thing? Hey you'll pay it or have none guys...
Iknow it's oversimplified but this is beyond disgusting, something has to give here... It all still points to our liberal morons who fight every step our efforts to be independant with our oil supplies by drilling here where we have enormous quanitities of oil from what I've heard. It's sheer corruption and greed is all i can assume from what I can see.
I was at my local bank the other day cashing a check. I looked over at the next teller to my right and noticed an Arab looking person that I recognized from a neiborhood gas station being waited on. He was emptying a bag of cash on the counter. There were 4 or 5 stacks of cash, each about 8 or 9 inches thick with mostly hundreds, fifties and twenties showing. Didn't notice too many one's in the pile. This just turned my stomach!
I was thinking this cash was probably going to leave the country. Oil companies are rapping us and making a fortune.
What happened to the good ole days when I used to pay 18 cents a gallon. I'd pull up to the pump in my 51 Chevy Deluxe and ask for .25 worth!
Looks like another left-wing thread.....first lets blame Bush for everything.....like he or any president can do anything about the price of oil. Then lets blame the oil companies for making a profit.....profit, such a sinful thing, like no other American company makes a profit...and the oil companies profits are inline with, or below the profit margins of most other successful businesses.....why not jump all over Bill Gates for the insane profits Microsoft makes? And "I don't care about how much gas/oil costs in the rest of the world....it shouldn't cost that much here". Wake up and smell the coffee dudes we are a part of the "rest of the world".
I am really not trying to belittle anyone's complaints about energy costs in the U.S., but put the blame where it belongs and that is mostly on those who won't allow oil exploration and drilling, coal gasification and other readily available supplies of fuel or energy to be tapped. On the world-wide side blame OPEC for tight fisted control of how much oil is produced. The competition for the limited supply is only going to increase in the near future, and if the government keeps pushing us in the direction of bio-fuel we will not only be paying more for gas, but all food items too.
Why even bother to hav a President? If they have no effect on the economy then why have a feww people been cheering for tax cuts that almost no one on this board is getting?
Gas is extremely high right now because the dollar is very weak, how can you believe that the President does not have anything to do with that? We have two oil men at the helm of the ship that basically let the oil companies write the energy policy and now it has gotten to this. Responsibilty is a word that there are far to many people that do not even know how to pronounce.
I am so looking forward to the first of next year when John McCain will give the White House back to the Republicans because what we have in there now is really not anything close to one.
It sucks to see my harley setting in the garage, weather getting warm and having to think about whenI can ride.
A $20,000+ motorcycle in the garage and you're going to think about whether or not to ride because it will cost $16-18 for a fillup instead of $12-14? Four to six dollars more every 200 miles or so?
It's just amazing that 3 years ago when the housing market was red hot, no one complained about making all that profit from selling their home. 20 some years ago when oil companies laid off workers and profits were low, no one says a word.
Let the market do its thing. These are cyclical. Adjusted for inflation, gas prices are just about where they should be.
So, then, ah, my wages will go UP as well, Right??
