That sure sounds like a shiet load of $$$. Bikes are getting to be like cars. I can see why most prefer the old. While the technology is a boon in one sense, its a bain because of reasons like this. I couldn't justift paying 1600 for a handle bar change. Thats insane. I'm sorry.

I hear ya!!!!!!

I was quoted $2100 and $1900 respectively. I want the chrome covers for the switches and new grips, but comeon!!!! And they both said, we haven't done one yet, it may be more if we need to "fabricate" parts??? What does that mean?

So, I called Wild1's directly and bought all the parts for under $1000 from Chicago Harley (they sell Wild1s as well at $198 shipped) so I am going to attempt it myself.

Glad to know it wasn't a farce. I thought it was a joke at first. Then I realized they were serious.

Keep us posted the brake line is the whole issue. If no need to change the brakeline we're fine everything else should be available.

My dealer quoted $1100 for that same bar change on a FLHT and I thought that was outrageous. My salesman did say, wait until the market catches up with the '08's and the cost will come down. Another dealer quoted $200 labor & no problem with the install, but if there was additional cost, I would have to pay it. I bought my bike from the first guy who was up front and told me how expensive the job would be.

Not to sound chauvanistic, but Blue it brings a tear to my eye to hear a girl talk shop with a bunch of dirty old bikers, except for me of course[sm=pcwhack.gif]. I'm working on my wife, she's a trooper and never rode a Harley til she met me 2 years ago.... She loves it now and is behind me 100% on things to buy for the bike. Now I just have to find a second job to support it [:@]

I changed bars on my 08 ultra. Put on hd tallboy bars It was the easiest handlebar change I ever did. TBW had plenty of extra wire in fairing. Was able to bend brake line to fit. Rerouted handlebar control wiring in fairing, also had plenty of wire. Only had to replace clutch cable with +4 inch. I think a lot of mechs are afraid of tbw but it is really eaiser then throttle cables. It really is an easy job

I don't think I could get my *** cheeks spread that wide if I had a crow bar. I put my own bars on. You could totally screw up two or three times trying to installer your own barsand still be money ahead for $1600 smackeroos.
