Default I need glasses

I have 1/2 glasses I use to read with. Other than that I'm fine. Not that I put a GPS on the bike, I can't see the road names. What I need is recomendations on good riding glassses. I cannot wear bifocals, they make me dizzy. Dan

I think you should see a good doc and tell him what your application is. They make goggles with prescriptions in them... I've seen them at Walmart! I wear trifocals and took some getting used to, but the progressive lens works well for me. Find an eye doc. I don't think you solution is just buying good riding glasses. You still won't see the street names unless there is magnification. You might go to a gps with blue tooth so you can hear it in your helmet... of course that requires a blue tooth device there, but it might be safer for you.

I've worked many years inside of production factorys and had to wear safety glasses. After 10 pairs of precription glasses, I could see up close and blurry far off . I gave up and used reading glasses whenever I needed to read something. I need about a 175 to read. All of my sun glasses are glass lenses. The distortion on plastic lenses gives me a headache. So does some car windshields. Dan

Go get your eyes checked and check out Sport RX online. They have all kinds of riding glasses. I am going to order some myself as soon as i find the time. You can go to a few bike shops and try on what they have to find some frames that fit good before you order online. A little tricky online but much less expensive. I am looking at $200.00 for 1 pair of rx glasses with dark tinted poly lenses with a second set of clear poly lenses shipped. Just need to get my rx.

Thanks, about the sport rx. I'm about due for another vision checkup. I'm trying to find out what are my options on riding glasses. Does anyone have any input on transition lenses, when it comes to riding? Stay dark to long or vice versa? It's a given, they will be glass lenses, I got a bad habit of scratching plastic lenses. I bought a pair of Harley riding glasses and had my dealer send them out for prescription and day/night lenses. The day/night (Transition) lenses are fantastic! They change from clear to dark in seconds. No more trouble with the Lehigh Tunnel and I don't have to carry separate sunglasses anymore! They're worth every penny, in my book.

I got glasses with my distance lenses only and carry a pair of "cheaters" (reading glasses) with me for restaurant menus, etc.

I ride with some sport rx type prescription glasses with transition lens and enjoy them night or day.

Wally World does carry some pretty good ones as does SportRX but all are limited to +/-400 diopter so if you have bad astigmatism either or both eyes you might be limited to a goggle type.
The deep curve wrap arounds won't take higher prescriptions, believe me I have looked at most all. As bad as these old peepers are I am now strongly considering Lasik procedure since most anything I have found that "might" work are around $500 and up!

Consider Lasik if you are a candidate.
Made a world of difference for me.

I'm about 150/175 now with a little astigmatism. XTrooper3936, Having your glasses sent out by the dealer, was that a normal service they offer? I have no problem spending #300-$400 for a good pair of glasses. My Ray-Ban's were up there.
