I installed the 4 Hogtunes speakers I bought (slightly used) today and went for a spin. I gotta tell ya, I'm a little disappointed. I'm not sure what I was expecting. There may be a little more volume there but not muchdifference in clarity. Difference over stock speakers appears to be minimal to my untrained ears.
Would addition of the HD amp help? I know I'd be pushing much more power to the speakers. Would that help with the clarity at high volume? I have a line on a used HD ampwith wiring for $100.00, haven't pulled the trigger yet.
did you get the right set of speakers for your newer style radio and did you get the updated download from HD
that should make a big difference

The 4 speaker set that I bought is the 2 ohm variety, so yes, they are the correct ones. I haven't ever looked for updates for my radio software. It's always worked ok so I never felt the need. Mine is a late '07 bike, but I don't suppose that means the stereo had all of the available upgrades. Are you saying that there is an upgrade that effects sound quality?
I have the Hog Tunes and love em, I did have a couple small problems with them but Pez , the owner fixed me right up. Now mine is an 02 so it is different than yours is. I have seen somewhere in the forum that there is a download the dealer can do to the radio to upgade the system. You could contact Pez and see if he can give you any advice on what to do or check, I don't think he could do any warrenty claim since you did not buy new from him. But I feel certain he would advise you what to do or what you could do to improve you sound. He is easy to get ahold of and will go the mile to help Good luck! edit here is his site www.hogtunes.com

I assume they only have downloads for the late models?
I wonder too. I put a 98' radio in my 05', I remember it saying about year and version but I can't remember, think I will call Pez and see.... Mine sounds great and with the addition of a MP3 it seems to boost the power!
