Voice recognition.
There should be plenty of options. I work with a guy that rides acrotch rocket hard and fast. He carries his laptop in one of those backpacks for laptops. He has never had any problems.
Like everyone has said, make sure it is shut down. Even if it could stand the vibration while running, the trapped heat inside a backpack would not be good.

My laptop has traveled on two long trips with me, one 1500 miles, and the other over 3000 miles. Not a problem yet. Be sure to power it down first, as you don't want to damage the hard drive. Real handy to have to keep in contact with loved ones, check tomorrow's weather, etc.
