Currently own a 06 ultra classis eg flhtuci. The windshield is stock and comes right a eye level causing me to either slump down or left up to see over. Do you recommend the lower 9" or go up to 15" windshield. Also looking to changing to syntheic oil and changing oil in other holes. First time by myself what do you recommend?
I personally don't like looking through the windshields so lower for me. As far as using synthetics whichever brand you prefer to use. There are many debates here in this forum as to which ones to use. Amsoil is a sponser here on this site.
I had the same problem with my ultras windshield so I elected to go down to the 9" and it's perfect.Like elglidetrike1 stated above,I hate looking through a windshield, now I look just over it. I got the smoke windshield and the change out was a breeze. Good luck... "D"
I have to agree although I had a different problem. I am tall so I thouhgt I should buy the 15" shield. Put it on the bike and found out that looking through the windshield gives me a headache. Went back to the stock windshield and I look just over the top. That will teach me.
For what it's worth....I had a 9 1/2" put on during my repairs. Ive been riding with it since October...and it's like looking thru theline in bifocals..especially @ nite.GF was also getting alot of wind buffering. Today I went and bought another 12". After having both, I think the 12" is better.
I left my stock windshield (12"?) on until the day I ran into some dense fog. Couldn't see a damn thing through it. Maybe in rain it would have washed some visibility into it, but the fog just coated it. I rode home half-standing up on the footboards (my wife was occupying the passenger footboards). Try that sometime for a unique experience. Lucky for me it was only a couple of miles to home.
Now I use the HD 9" and it's perfect. My eye level is just above it, so no obstruction, catches 99% of the bugs, and has a nice still air pocket behind it.
