You were lucky, on my 07 only went about 2,000 miles before my fist flat. Now I too carry a small 12 v compressor and plug kit.

I just got the bottles of Ride-On about a week ago, gonna put it in my 08 UC tires as soon as weather comes around and I ride more regularly. Also bought some for the wife's Honda Accord as I'm going to be putting new tires on it this spring. I've been doing a lot of research on it and it seems to me to be the best stuff around....helps prevent flats, balances your tires, and helps them run cooler so you get better milage out of them. For the wife I'm mainly interested in reducing the likelihood of her having to try change a flat tire. I still carry a plug kit and the small slime air compressor in my saddlebag as they are small enough.

Even though the Ride-On will likely get you home even if you have a nail in your tire I'm still a strong believer in the fact that any kind of a puncture in a bike tire means a new tire as soon as possible....I would never continue to ride on a tire that I know had been punctured....my life is worth more than the cost of a new tire.

Two options:

http://www.rhinotire.com- haven't been able to find a stateside dealer.

http://www.ride-on.com/- I use this myself... works FANTASTIC and you don't have to get the wheels balanced either, so no ugly weights on the wheels.

Had a screw in the rear tire of my 08 UC when I did the 1k maint. I had only had the bike a few days!. Bit the bullet and popped for a new skin. Gave the old (almost new) one to a buddy that uses spoked wheels and tubes. I always carry a plug kit and CO2 inflator. Ken

a BIGcan of fix a flat never leave home withou it. unless u got spokes
I got a guy going who had a flat on his Heritage with the laced wheels by using Fix-a-flat one day. Followed him 10-12 miles down the interstate to be sure he was going to make it to the next exit. He finally waved me off, said he was going on to the next town. So don't believe everything you hear about laced wheels ( but that's another topic for discussion that's been beat to death).

Compressor? I carry a cell phone, credit card and insurance. I've had a flat, no compressor, and somehow lived to tell the story. It's an inconvienece that may happen if you ride just like dealing with the rain, that's all.

one member PM'd me to ask how much of the ride-on to install in a tire...

http://www.ride-on.com/pdf/Motorcycle_Kit.pdf

BTW - forgot to add - it works best on Solid wheels - can work on spoke but not as good... call their tech support - For those that install it in their car tires - I did this on a 66 vette - works the same way - just the warm up and first time you drive your car is Very different than the install on your bike... just read the inst - every line...

I got a cheapo mini compressor and took the housing off and trashed it. That and a tire plug kit fit easily in a zippered bag. It sure has came in handy helping more than unprepared guy out on the side of the road.

Those CO2 kits look interesting, but are no smaller than a mini compressor, since you gotta carry 3-4 cartridges just to fill up on flat, then you better hope it doesn't leak or you don't screw up one of the cartridges and let the air out by mistake. Addtionally, I wouldn't want one in my saddlebag on a hot day. The kit that I looked at had a warning not to store them in a closed compartment that might get over 110 degrees. I'd guess a day in the sun at a place like Myrtle or Daytona will get a bag up to more than 110 inside.

One thing on the Ride-on = It works best with solid wheels - it does work on spoke but not as good...

Ok.... that brings another discussion.... On a Road King Classic, I don't have a 12v outlet.... that I know of. [sm=confused06.gif]
