There have been a couple of posts about this. If you seach for 'harley models' or something like that it actually explains how each of the model lines are named.
The FL is the major descriptor for touring bikes... the rest of the letter designate specific models. Or something like that...

F = overhead valve 74 inch or larger big twin
L = high compression, omitted on low compression early models, and not indicative of compression on current models
T = touring
H = varied between high performance and heavy duty. the early flh for example produced 5 more hp than the FL and was used primarily for touring and side car applications...
guess you road glide boys are lacking in a few hp...lol
