Default Tmax cause lifter to not pump up?

Well after i upgraded my firmware on my tmax and updated the module. i was getting a ticking, slaping, or knocking noise did not know what is was took it into the dealer yesterday and they said my front lifter is not pumping up. Would the tmax cause that? Also i thought i might have gotten bad gas so i rode it through 2 tanks of gas like that could i have damaged anything else? any info would be greatly appreciated.

My opinion is 1 is electrical and 1 is mechanical shouldn't have anything to do with a lifter not pushing oil

+1 with IB Harley, I have a tmax also and haven't had any problems with the lifters. I don't see how the Tmax would have anything to do with the mechanics of the motor, just electrical configurations. But when you find out why it's happening let us know.

Simply a bad lifter. No way TMax can cause it. Heck a speck of burnt oil or dirt can plug a lifter or...its a harley part. Get some type b lifters and put em in.

Did the dealer make that claim???
If so you need a new mechanic.
It is not possible for the electronic controls to cause this problem.
Lifter pumps up because of oil pressure.
Oil Press is developed when the engine is being cranked by starter
or while running.
Either oil is not getting to this lifter (not likely as the other one is)
or the internal valving is faulty and not holding the pressure.
The other option is a faulty rocker assembly for that valve.

Does TMax raise the Rev Limit? Over rev could collapse a lifter.

OMG......

Perhaps you should go and read an owners manual or maybe even a book on the 45 degree combustion engine before you go and postaquestion like that. Unfugginbelievable! Did you know that one parts mechanical and the other is electronic, or did you know that gas burns in the combustion chamber which has nothing to do with the lifters which reside in the bottom end?Would you know where the spark plug is and where the oil drains are on your bike? I'm thinking not....and you know what? That's ok if you don't know and have someone else service it, but please then stop with stupid questions like the one you posted when it's clear you have no knowledge at all of engines or parts.

T Max has nothing to do with it nor does your gas. Now on the other hand if you were to tell me you ran a tank of gas through your crankcase, that could have something to do with it.[:@]

OK quit flogging the guy he only asked a questionand this forum is supposed to be a place to come forhelp. Stupid or not it was something the guy was concernedabout and he just needed a good honest answer. I sometimes think people would ask more questions but the fear of asking something stupid and then gettingbeat upover it holds them back. So what if its a stupid question does it deserve an ignorant answer?
Brandanfinn the problem as stated is mechanical and has nothing to do with the tmax update just a coincidence that it started right after you did the upgrade. Running the bike with a collapsed lifter is not a good thing and can cause wear on the cam lobe, pushrod, rocker arm, etc. Whom ever you choose to replace the lifter should also check these parts for excessive wear and replace them if necessary.......................BG

Thank you all for your info. Harley Davidson did not claim that the Tmax caused it i was just curious if there was anyway it could.

Thanks again.

As for you GlideMan go **** yourself. I do change my own oil and plugs only the simple stuff as i am not a mechanic. I just asked a question if you dont like it i will gladly meet you somewhere and you can try to be an ******* to my face!
