Well I finally bought my first Harley. 99 RK with 22k on it. Bad new is she is a salvage bike and I need to get busy and be ready to ride in a month. Good news is all the damge is cosmetic. I have new tins on the way as well as a replacement saddle bag for the right side. Just need to start buying all the fun stuff!!
I did mine last year. Bought a wrecked '99 and brought it back to life. Fortunately - the one RK I got still had a clean title.
When I started looking thru E-bay, Craigslist and the Parts For Sale section of this forum - I found all sorts of good deals.
I ended-up swapping the front-end, swingarm & wheels for units that I grabbed off of a 2001 - That allowed me to go the 4-piston brakes and also wheels with sealed bearings.
Photos are in my gallery.
PM me with anyquestions - I'm more than happy to try to help if you need it. I do have some '99 parts laying around if you need anything.
Let me know
Nice bike... check out Eastern Performance for those knick knacks you'll need to get her back together. Good luck and I reckon you'll have to relearn her to keep the shiny side up....Later
