Default Differences between 2004 RK and 2005 RK

I'm looking to buy a Road King and I would like black. The dealer doesn't have any but can probably get one from another dealer. But he does has a new black 2004 model on the floor. So I wonder if there are any improvements on the 2005 models that I might regret if I decide to get a 2004 model. Any ideas on this? Thanks.

Sorry but this is a totally uneducated answer. You should be able to compare the specs over on harley-davidson.com as they have both 2004 and 2005 bikes still on the website. The write up on the 2005's doesn't say anything about "new for 05", so there probably isn't much difference. The only place it might bite you is in resale but that shouldn't be a big issue.

yea, if the price is about the same, I would hold out & wait for the '05 - why pay the same money for a bike that is a model year older?

Agreed. I should talk to them about how much they really want for it...I'll do that Monday for sure. I also just want to be sure that 2005 was not the year that " they finally got the EFI working right" or something like that happened that I would lose by picking up a 2004 model.

Talked to a local dealer a month ago--was kind enough to offer to knock off 500 on an 04 Ultra vs. a new '05! I think there is a freight reimbursement to the dealer on '04's....BRUCE

The only actual difference is the new headlight. For '05 it has a different lens and reflector.
The bulb wattage remains the DOT legal 55/60, but the new optics give a better spread of light on the road.
And yes, you can upgrade to the new lamp if you wish.
