Am trading in my 2004 FLHTP for a 2008 model. Because of some shoulder injuries, I had to get the two inch pull back bars for my 2004. Has anyone heard how long it will take HD to make them available for the 2008 models? Or are there any aftermarket bars that will work?
Flanders has a picture on their website of how to modify any bar. It is at the bottom of the page that has the harley stock bar measurments. www.flandersco.com
I just had bars modified for 2" pullback.
Of note: if you get ABS there can be a problem with the brake cable. No one makes a longer ABS brake cable yet but they were able to use the stock cable on my bars... just barely.
The cable is not flat against the bar but rather angles some so you see it. When a longer cable is made we are going to switch it out.
When the dealer looked for an ABS brake cable, Magnum said they are working on one that is longer and it will be out sometime this summer.
My dealer in Montana found after market bars through Bikers Choice..1.75 pull back and 2 up with
1 inch wider, called Chubbys I dont have the stock number yet, the bike will be done Wed.
6 inch longer clutch cable was the issue, $43 ABS and elec. throdel were ok..Dealer told me June
or July for the bars...Said it was quality control or production problems causing the delays..
what all needs to be mod to makeother bars work ? I thought I read someone was using heritage bars to get 1 1/2inch morepull back? but this was on a 05 model I think ?
