I enjoyed Crash12888's post about installing the 56176-08 2" pullback bars. When I saw the product online, it doesn't say that they are incompatible with ABS equipped bikes. But when I went down to the local dealer, it said on the box and the '09 catalog that they are not compatible with ABS bikes. I am confused!!!
Has anyone tried fitting them successfully to an ABS bike?
I can't see why a set of bars would have anything to do with ABS. I installed a set of the Khrome Werks +2 Sweeper bars on a friends 08 Ultra with ABS and had no problems. All you'll need is a +3 or +4 clutch cable. The brake line and TBW was not changed at all. I would suggest these bars over the HD anyway !! Much better wrist angle !! You can get bars & clutch cable from Forum Vendor (Warehouse Direct - Cory) for just over $100.00.
I have a 2009 Ultra with ABS & the 2" pullback touring handlebars. They work fine. Where the confusion comes in the catalog is that it states it is not compatiable with 2008 models. I had the dealer mechanic talk to HD on this. The reason they fit on the 2009 models is because they changed the fittings on the ABS unit that the cable goes into. Therefore the 09 brake cable will not work on the 08 bikes. Supposedly HD is working on developing a new cable for 08 bikes with ABS so they can use the handlebars. Hope this helps clear things up.

I'm confused ...... bars are bars... so how in the heck does a set of bars have anything to do with ABS brakes ??? If the bars were too radical then yes you might need a longer barke line, but that is not the case with the HD pullbacks or the Khrome Werks bars. The only thing you have to change is the clutch cable !!! Trust me, I've installed them on an 08 Ultra with and without ABS.
Yeep last time I looked bars are bars and brakes are brakes. don't you just love some of these HD mechanics. If you don't know it's ok to say you don't know. Classic

Peppa, my dealer told me that the 08 ABS models use a different brake line which is heavier duty and thicker, to withstand the on/off pumping pressures. I don't know... sounds like horsefeathers to me!! I'm going to buy a set of the HD 2" pullback bars - I looked at the Klock Werks sweepers, but apparently it requires you to remove the front exhaust to get access to the clutch to change the clutch cable. Sounds like a lot of work to swap out bars. I think I'll gamble a hundred fitty bucks on the HD bars and see if it makes a difference.
Hey Kugies - Are you saying you just installed the HD pullbacks without changing anything?? Planning on doing the same to my 09 Ultra and thought I needed clutch cable only...
Thanks, Rex

Quint it all depends on wheather or not you have your stock pipes on. I had the tru duels and all you had to do was take off two brackets. The one at the saddle bag and the one under the clutch housing. There is then enough play in the pipe to remove your clutch housing. If you still have your stock pipes then I think you have to loosen both sets of head bolts.
