Type or bike, type of CB, your level of electricl installation experience will all be good to know, prior to providing suggestions

Jeff, I notice in your profile that you have an 03 police model RK. There is an accessoryconnector under your seat, probably forward of the battery compartment, that can provide switched electrical power. It's a four place Deutsch connector with a dummy plug installed to keep water out.

You might also be able to use the siren "on" switch on the handlebar if the siren has been removed. I have an '04 police model EG, but I changed out theoriginal handlebar switches, andnever tried wiring anything to thatswitch.

The previous post makes an excellent point: the more specific you are about whatbike you have and what you want to install, the better chance youwill get a specific answer. For example, if you are already using the accessory connection for the radio or some other device, I wasted my timesuggesting that alternative.

Lot's of helpful folks here. Also, if you don't have one already, the HD Police Model Service Manual Supplement for your bike has excellent wiring diagrams, and theHD Touring Models Service Manual can show you how the civilian bikes are wired should you want to incorporate some of the civilian features on your policemodel. I bought both and they have been invaluable.

Good luck with your project.

I can't speak to specific differences between the police and civilian RK's other than the obvious handlebar switch differences. But with the Electra Glides, there are many differences between the two models: not only does the police EG not have oil pressure or air temp gauges, it doesn't even have the wiring inside the fairing to install them (an EG Standard doesn't have the gauges either, but it has the wiring); ditto the radio--no radio in either model but the civilain model is wired for the installation, but not the police model. With the Service Manual and police supplement, all of those wiring differences can be noted and addressed.

One thing I did was install a fuse box operated off a switched relay. When the ignition is turned on, the relay provides power to the fusebox which provides power to the stereo amp, tourpack light and cig plugs, heated grips, and thejack for the heated jacket liner. It makes thing easier that way.

Well its an 03 Police RK and It still used as designed. I have a good times radio just spliced to a wire to the fuse box and I am feeling that I need to change that, but I am also installing a CB, just a radio shack CB, nothing special. I want to get these wired right, I think I like the way PANIOLO has his wired. Can use post or send a wiring diagram as to how you did that and what you got the main power from

It might be beneficial for you to get the Service Manuals as the Pingman Suggested.

You can also get basic automotive wiring help at any book store in the Hobby Sections.

Once you understand exacatlly what you want to do, then ask a specific question and you will get specific answers.

As for the CB, it has a power (red) and gound (black) and an antenna connection. Red to positive, black to ground and antenna to the connector. The biggest hassle with the CB is getting the SWR matched. Not much metal for a gound plane on a bike, unless you are using a marine antenna (no ground plane required)
