I talked to the dealer today, and they told me the cost for the Dyno work to make a custom fuel map for PCIII would be a flat fee of $300.00 bucks. Is this a fair price?

The guy that does the Dyno work, works on the dealer race bikes too. He is SERT and PCIII certified. They said flat fee and that it takes about 4.5 hours to do the job for a custom fuel map. They said that I could start the bikes life with the new parts on the bike with a can-program that would be a touch on the rich side of things until I had 800 to 1000 miles on the bike. They did not recommend doing the 4.5 hour Dyno run with ZERO miles on the bike. The pipes, and the PCIII should be here maybe by the end of the week, and the bike is coming from another dealer and should be here Tuesday. They did not have the Black Cherry, so they did a dealer trade with a dealer that had one still in the crate.
I liked the hp/tq numbers, and the look of BountyHunters scoot. Plus I have a set of DG Hard Krome pipes on my metric bike too. The dealer told me that they get better number from 2 into 1 pipes, and do not think that I can pull 15 hp from the setup that I am going to do. Not to mention some of the things I have read on the SERT too. I think, and hope that I made the right choice in the setup that I want to run. I really do like the look of the DG HK pipes on BountyHunters scoot. This will be my first Harley, and I do hope to have it for a very long time. Even after reading the very long post on the few guys that are having some issues with slow start with the PCIII, I am still going to run with it, and hope that the Dyno/Tuner will get things right. I am looking to run the bike for the 800 miles or so before I change anything, so I can get the stock numbers on the Dyno and then compare it to the end result from the add-ons.

Sounds very reasonable, but should of went with the SERT
Just had my SG in for Stage 1, Sert and SE slipons and these are the dyno numbers: tune.002, Max Power = 74.7 @ 5100 RPM, Max Torque = 81.5 (3 Times) @ 3700-4000 RPM.....Air/Fuel Ratio = a high of 14.5 at 1800 RPM's, dropping to 12.5 from 2000-2600 RPM's and leveling out at 13.5 2600-6250 RPM's. Bike is now a joy to ride, engine runs cooler and vibration is now non existant
Not one to jump on the Pipe bandwagon, really wanted the Rhineharts but my Service manager is a straight shooter and the above setup is what they are getting the best performance out of on the 06's. Hope these numbers help anyone considering the PC III / Sert.
Pipes are not exactly what I wanted as far as sound (Used to the V&H BigShots), but willing to live with being a little less loud for the piece of mind that my bike is running like a scalded dog.
The beauty of the PCIII is that with a custom map, you can tune each cylinder individually ( assuming you have true duals ) the rear cylinder on a Harley has always run hotter and leaner due to it's position in the airstream across the engine. The front cylinder gets cool clean air, while the rear cylinder gets the already heated air off the front cylinder. When the custom map was made for mine, I was already running a canned map. The dyno guy showed me how the front cylinder was a tad rich, the rear a tad lean. The canned maps ( for the most part ) are a happy medium that works decently and should not harm your engine, but, they are not going to produce 100% of your engines possible performance, nor are they going to give you the BEST optimum fuel mixture for both cylinders. The custom map, tuning both cylinders individually will net you the same a/f ratio for both cylinders, at the same rpm's. I do not belive that the sert is capable of the same type of custom map ( cylinder specific ) but I may be mistaken. The sert can most likely make lots of power, just like the PCIII but it will not be an exact tune. Correct me if I am wrong about the sert mapping, but I think it is just a manually tuned device much like a DFO.
