06 RK ABS. got the new apes on and all the lines and cables, cant seem to get the air out of the front end. 2-3 pumps on the brake lever and its good. Any suggestions? Dont have a power bleeder but if thats what the abs system takes I can get my hands on one. Please respond, daily driver and cant get to work tommorrow without it.
Do a search and you should find plenty on bleeding....I think it was about 2 weeks ago someone poosted a sure fire way to easily accomplish the bleed. Try this link.. http://www.moccsplace.com/images/bra...er/bleeder.htm
you probably know this already, but if not, bleed the caliper farthers away from the master cylinder first. On your fronts that would be the left side.
another trick you can try is to pull the brake lever all the way to the bar, use a ty wrap or bungee cord to hold it there ,and leave it over night. by morning should be good to go.,,
Try slipping a piece of clear tubing over the bleeder screw and run it up to the top of your mirror and tie it off, then leave the screw loose and pump away, this will allow the air/fluid mixture to pump out and the air will flowout the top and when you release the lever it will suck oil and not air back in. This has worked for me on several occations, but it still takes forever.
Had the same problem with mine and could never get the brake to bleed out right. I finally put a rubber hose on the end of the bleeder screw and put the other end of the hose on a syringe(from hopsital) loosened the bleeder and forced brake fluid in reverse order. Make sure you get brake fluid from the brake resevoir for the syringe so you won't overfill the brake resevoirwhen you reverse bleed it. You should see bubbles in the resevoir when you do this. Worked for me.
abs could be differerent.
You will need to get the abs book from HD.
Standard procedure is in your 06 touring model service manual
on page 2-62
But does NOT include ABS.
So if you followed it exactly and still have air you need directions for the ABS.
go to the dealer in this case and get the directions.
