i agree with everyone that the price is was too high, last year i bought a 2006 roadking standard, with a 6 speed trans, vance and hines oval slipons, cruise control, se air cleaner kit, sert and the bike was dyno tuned with a custon map, and the motor also had a 95 kit done to it, and best of all the bike only had 1,800 miles on it and i walked out the door with the bike for 16,000, so you should look around more because that price is off the wall.

Yup, way too high. I bought my 05 EG Std. in September of 06. It had stage 1, pythons and a bunch of other extras with 3,000 miles on it. I paid 14,500.

You can buy a new one just a little more than that. Stay away from that dealer, they're not your friends.

MSRP for 08 FLHR is $17,970...$17k for what you're describing is excessive.

The price may not be too high for where you are. Most of us only know prices where we live. In central Texas an 05 RK with lower miles will probably go for no more than $15k, if that.

I bought my 05 used with way less miles on it and made them put new tires on it for 15K out the door.

Hate to be stupid here, but... you say 43k km, so I assume you are in Canada. If it were me, I would call 3 or 4 dealerships up there and get some different prices from each of them to see what the going rate is. Call from all the way across the country... just get a solid basis for what some of the used bikes go for at a dealership. In parallel, I would begin a campaign search for buying from Craig's lists or local newspapers and other places.

Once you know what kind of price is reasonable, you can make an informed decision. Oh, and when you find the bike you can't live without, take someone else to negotiate and be ready to walk away if they won't move to a price you can afford and is reasonable.

Best of luck. I spent 9 months looking and 4 months of negotiating before I got my scoot. With all the bells and whistles, a 103", 72 month warranty, everything you see in the picture, I was less than $23,500 out the door...

It's a 2005 - the 2009's will be released in a few months... I would check the HD Web Page for used Bikes.. http://www.harley-davidson.com

And here: http://www.cycletrader.com/

And there are many others... Keep in mind that these are asking prices so there is room to barter

Being as I have a 2005 I would stay away from them. Mine had bad valve seals (they all had bad valve seals). The 2005 heads are some of the worst flowing heads. The cam tensioners wear quick in some and slow in others. I think it was in 07 that they changed all of the bikes to the new system which seems to be working better.
