Default Road King Question

I need some advice. I have found an 05 RK standard with 43k km on it at dealer near my home town. The bike is in great shape no visible marks in paint, not rust and no scratches. I have made a date to test drive it. It was serviced at the dealership and it was traded on an 08 RK standard. They are asking 17K for it, is that reasonable? I know most would have to see it to make an informed decision, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That price is a bit steep. Check out the new ones and see what they cost. Not nuch more than that. If that dealer is selling that much higher, go to another dealer.

That is ridiculous, I think the base price on my 07 was only $18.

How far out of line is the price?
Middle of last year (before it was such a buyers market) I purchased an 05 RK Custom with a Stage 1, Rush slipons and a few other extras. It had 7300 miles on the clock, very clean, well maintained. $14,500. In todays market I would expect to find an even better deal.

I can't answer how far out of line the price is, but I just searched my local dealer inventory and you could buy an '07 Road King new at list for $18K US (~$18,400 CAD). And that is BEFORE any negotiations, and when I bought my '07 after the '08's were announced but not readily available, I was able to negotiate a decent discount on a RKC. I would think you could get the '07 RK Standard at about the same price point as that new one, although you might have to travel some.
