Default Power for GPS

Is there a "plug" on an '07 police RK for GPS or other electical devices? I hate to have to go in and start cutting and splicing wires.

Dunno about the police version... but the RKC does not appear to from my reading of the service manual. I think it's time to get into the fuse box and get to splicing... Yuk. I am looking into this as I plan to get a Zumo 550 because I am doing all the handlebar stuff right now and I wanted to know if I could run the wires inside the bar... I am not finding a sexy solution.

Whew, what a long runon sentence...anyone else?

Not positive about the Police model but RK's should have a plug either in the headlight bucket or under the seat, depending on the moldel. Some RK's (Classic, Custom) should have a spare wire in the headlight bucket for the fender tip light that's not in use since those models don't have a fender tip light. Both of these are shown in the service manual.

I agree with the light for the fender plug... but the wire has a plug only at the fender. how does that help handlebar power? As for the bucket, I don't see it.. but then again, I submit I am tired and could be missing it. I have the service manual in my lap while typing away at this old cantankerous laptop.

It seems to me to use one of the extra 15a or 5a fuses and plug the wires from the zumo directly in would be the best and easiest way. Am I wrong?

I'am running a TomTom on the left sidehandle bar on my Electra Glide Standard. Ran the wire down under the fairing and installed it to the cigarette lighter that I did not use. It works only when the bike is running. Installed acigarette adapter to the right side cover directly to the battery (Fused) same one as 2deuce is showing. This I use for my cell phone and my 2meter fm hand held or any other device that takes 12 volt dc power.GPS is really great idea for when I travel I have a tendence go get lost. My wife keeps telling me that also wonder what she mean ??????

Not sure on the RK, but on my EGC there was a extra set of wires running to the headlight that is used for daytime running lights in Europe, I taped into these for power for my Zumo.
Also, and may be the best way, is to use something like this..
http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products...t.asp?Item=CEN
Using a aux fuse block will allow you to hook up the Zumo and anything else, like Heated clothing, extra lights, extra 12V power plug etc...in a safe and protected manner. I have used something like this before and it works great. I also deal with a complany called Waytec, they sell a lot of electrical supplies. fuses, fuse blocks, fuese that have a small LED light that glows when the fuse blows ( great for finding the blown fuse at night)
