The easiest thing to do is take a small wrench and remove the factory one and replace it with a 90 degree elbow fitting. Then angle it toward you. Then using any type of good automotive grease, (spend the extra buck or two at PepBoys) start pumping it in. When you see it spilling out around the neck area, you are done.

Don't be surprised at how much grease it takes.

Replace the straight zerk with a 45 or 90 degree to more easily get your grease gun on it. I like the 45 better. My '07 Street Glide took about 1/2 of a tube before the bearings were oozing new grease. Funny but when it was new the fork lock didn't engage when I locked the ignition. I told the Service Manager that I was going to bring it back. After I greased the steering head at the 1000 mi. service, the fork lock started working just fine! I read some posts here a while back saying some guys don't think it's worth doing (greasing the steering bearings), and complained the grease comes out in hot weather and caused a little mess. I'llthink they'll regret it later, but I just ain't smart enough to understand why it's better to let your steering bearings go dry.

Been looking for mine on my '07 Road Glide. I can see my buddys on his Ultra plain as day, but can't seem to find the one on my bike. Anyone with a RG that can point me in the right spot?

of the frame neck, down by the lower bearings,it takes 1/2 tube too

I kept the stoch grease nipple, but bought a 90 degree baynet adapter for my grease gun. I find it easier to use. The link below should take you to an image. Cost about $8 and if you Google GREASE GUN ADAPTER it will show some options.

Oh, I found it:

Also, I see there are 65 degree fittings at McMaster-Carr.

Is filling it up really necessary? I wonder because the steering does not turn that much. Is that the only way to get the grease to the bearings? meaning fill it so it will reach it. I have heard a few complain about the mess with the heat. Just wondering.
