i am getting ready to do my 5000 mi. service. i have a s/e air filter. what is the best way to clean it ?

nope i mean a k&n filter...they say after a while the s/e one breaks down...i'm not saying go buy one today but eventually...

if something should happen to this one i would defintely buy a k&n. i hav e learned a lot since i bought my bike, but for now i just have to clean it.
