Sounds like their age group watched that movie with Marlon Brando, I forget the movie.
Theres a good article in one of the motorcycle mags this month on the Hollister deal that never happened back in the 40's or 50's.
It was all made up and it sold papers and magazines.
Much like the media now I guess.
Only most people would never know it.
So you can say your a victim alright.
Ofmedia hype.

The movie was "The Wild One", Marvin Lee was also in it. BTW, Brando's character rode a Triumph.
Somebody told me I needed to make my bike louder because I still have the stock pipes on it. I said, that's as loud as the radio gets!
We give our freedoms away every day because we don't exercise our rights and obligations. Let them have their fun for now, they won't be around for long the way things are going!

Its the loud pipes, people don't like them. My brother lives in a rather large townhome community, and has a stock 2004 Fatboy, and they don't say a word to him, but when his friends come to visit, the neighbors are pounding down the doors complaining. They used to go on early rides, and he'd have 12 bikes pulling up to his door at 5am (cause he was the central location), now they meet at the Shell Truck Stopdown the street to keep the neighbors happy.
We have signs all over the place "No engine braking" "Local Ordanance xxx-xx" - Originally I thought it was safety oriented - like not tapping the brake lights to show you're slowing down, but I found out its for the noise. We had tons of these little Jap cars with the loud exhaust in the neigborhood, and they are all gone now. I think these ordanances took them all out (it did for my son he got tired of getting pulled over again and again).
I personally don't think they are discriminating against the rider, I think its against the noise. My little sportster sets off car alarms as I drive slowly past them, I'd be gritting my teeth as I would try to get home after midnight as quietly as I could.

I have to give you my local example of this...there is a place up the road from us called Callaway Gardenes, in Pine Mountain Ga.,
I sent an Email to inquire about motorcycles and this it the reply I got (in writing)....but get this they graciousl open their parking
lot up once a year for a cancer ride , because the skim off the top of the donations...GOTTA love 'em
Thank you for your email inquiry.
Motorcycles have been excluded from The Gardens at Callaway since its opening in 1952. The purpose of our policy is simply the nature of the Gardens, which were created to be a place of "inspiration, relaxation and a better understanding of the living world." We are charged with protecting the tranquility and serenity that is found here and enjoyed by almost one million people per year.
While I understand that motorcycles can be quiet and very fuel efficient, unfortunately some are very loud either naturally or because they are manipulated to be loud. There is no fair way to distinguish between them at the gate.
We do not in any way stereotype motorcyclists, nor do we have anything against them as individuals. In fact, the demographics of motorcyclists very closely matches those of our target audience.
Motorcycle restriction information is printed in our seasonal calendars, posted at our entrance and on our web site in order to advise motorcyclists in advance so that they will be able to plan ahead for alternate transportation and still be able to enjoy the Gardens.
For our day guests, motorcycles can be left at our Main Gate. The gate attendant will phone a bellman to provide transportation to the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center, our new welcome/orientation center.
For our overnight guests, motorcycles can be left at the Inn. A bellman can provide transportation to the Callaway Discovery Center.
