Is more power more fun-------usually but at what cost. Stock my 08 Ultra works fine for me but maybe not for you. The only issue I had was with the heat--------and it is hot when stuck in traffic--it happens alot on my commute in Seattle. I am tight with a dollar so I installled the Knightrider IED's it cooled it down a bunch. There are othe ways to do the same thing but cost a lot more. Only you can decide how cool temp wise or how fast dollar wise you want to go.

Afew weeks back I wasall set to get the SERT, SE A/C, exhaust and dyno along with my 1k service. On the ride to the dealer, riding a mix of 70 mph sweepers and stop and go traffic, I says to myself; "Self, why the hell are you wantin performance mods?" Self said; "Cause the engine comes out o' the factory lean and ya should". I say to self; " But the '08 SG feels awesome and has plenty of power for me as it is". Self says; "OK then, sleep on it". So I did and still am...
One last time, What would you experienced gear heads say about this conversation with Self? Leave it as it is, orare the basic performance mods, as I listed above, realy mandatory in getting a good baseline of efficiency, engine life, and power? Are the mods simply a fix to an EPA installed problem?
Thanks so much. I wont write about this again... I promise.
I agree it's you $$$ do what you feel right!!!
But doing the Stage 1 WILL REDUCE some of the Heat Issues - and pick-up better performance - And if you're not going any more then the Stage 1 then you can save $$$ and go for a V&H FuelPac - K&N Filter and Cycle Shack Slip-Ons (E-Bay)... PCIII is a good unit and if you place on doing more then the Stage 1 then I woud consider the PCIII or SERT - But to fine tune it (DYNO) it going to add more $$$

Rsofa, I need the bike tomorrow, but you can have it Mon/Wed/Fri
My 'self' asked the same thing....
only...I just bought a 2004 Ultra, all stock. I wondered how I could be a "1% 'er".
Then it hit me....I bet only 1% of Touring riders leave their bike stock!
I COULD BE A 1% 'er after all!!!!! (strike a POSE!)
