They say a pictue is worth a thousand words. So here you go. Don't try this with a Sears jack.

I'm merely performing due diligences before making another purchase and trying to use this forum for information as intended.... I can't find ant specs on Assembly, materials, etc.
Apparently, your "due diligence" didn't include reading this page, which has all of the above - specs, assembly, and materials.
Nice shot racklefratz! Apparently, you don't know the difference between a specification and a description. You've earned you place on the cheerleader squad but didn't make the team.

Here's a chance to redeem yourself. What is the $300 dollar difference in value between the J&S lift and the Sears red lift? Could it be the "bowling ball" like material used in the wheels of the J&S vs. the cheep steel wheels on the Sears? Or is it all of the extra iron used in the 5" additional width and 3.25" additional length of the of the J&S platform? Is it all of the above plus something else?

This should be an easy one for you.

Ride well,

Jim

this week harbor freight has a sale on the yellow jack $59. I love mine and its similar to the yellow jack from sears. Save your self the money on those expensive jacks and buy a nice rolling stool or something. tie downs and that jack and it doesnt get much sturdier, my bike has been up on the jack for over a week now because I took the front end off ( getting powdercoating done) ive not had any issues. Save your money and go to harbor freight, unless your trying to out jones the joneses.

There are 2 types here on the forum . . .

1. Those with enough common sense to buy a J&S or Pitbull jack.

2. And then there are all the others . . . (see above).

I would like someone to tell me why the more expensive jacks are better.

1) I heard you can't replace the bottle jack but I doubt that that's correct. You may not get one from Sears but the bottle jack isn't made exclusively for this Sears jack. It looks pretty common and I'll bet they're out there. WRONG..NO REPLACEMENT ACVAILABLE. I tried.

2) The arms are longer on the J&S although I don't believe it makes any difference if the arm extends two inches or six inches past the frame. That doesn't affect it's function though it may make it easier because you don't have to be as accurate shoving it under the bike.

Ride well,

Jim
The bottle jack on the sears is NOT replacable. they are made exclusivly for sears, according to the bottle jack manufacture. I had one go out and wanted to fix it.
J&S is also Wider in the base than the sears,. Made in AMERICA, and not some china sweatshop which as we all have seen...can't build quality.
Better materials, and bracing to make it stable.
I can not climb onto my bike while its up in the air on the sears jack, without feeling like its going to fall. I CAN with the J&S, without ever strapping it down.
I can and Have taken my bikes apart...On the Jack, NO STRAPS, removed wheels, and tins and left it on the jack for 4 weeks while getting the paint done. Don't try that with the sears...It won't do it. It will unbalance when you pull the wheels..
I can grab hold of my bike while on the jack, and pull it around the garage with ease, and still NEVER STRAP IT DOWN, and feel secure in doing so.
I have 2 bikes worth well over 25,000 each..I don't trust them to just any piece of chinese junk that comes along. The J&S was designed by two brothers that wanted something better and more stable. Customer service is also top notch, and thats important to me. This jack will not fail..and if it does, they stand behind it.

I have one question for you guys that go out and spend big bucks on a jack for your bike. Did you do the same for your car or your truck? I know my car came with probably a $20.00 scissor jack, if that. I have never considered changing it.
While I have never in my 50 years, replaced the jack that came with the vehicles...I also have NEVER used the one that comes with it..I trust my Floor Jack..I have never trusted the sissor jack, or even a simple bottle jack that is in the vehicle when purchased.

If I am out and need the vehicle lifted...a tow truck does it.

Okay let me try one more time: Will the J&S Jack take a smaller bike or is it pretty much designed for a Harley frame?
While I have never tried it...I would contact J&S and ASK THEM..good people..and they will not try to sell you something you can't use.

does anyone know will the j&s jack lift a electra glide thats been lowered 2 inches?
Depends on how low your bike is.. I lift the wife's Deluxe with no problems. Its the lowest hieght of any Harley..at just over 4 inches of ground clearance.
