Default Forks locked

Hi Guys,
Got a little problem, while changing handlebars, grips, cables, and painting the inner fairing, the forks accidentally got turned to the left locking. With the switch off the bike is there any way to get the forks unlocked so I can get front end straight and get my clutch cable routed back. Thanks for any help, I looked all through the manual without any luck, it maybe there somewhere but I can't find it.

I just put the switch back on....the housing does not have to be there.... When I put the fairing back on I removed it again. Easy enough

Just stick a medium-sized flat tip screwdriver into the hole where the ignition goes and turn the tumblers inside until the fork unlocks. When you get ready to put it back together, you will have to keep turning the tumblers with the screwdriver until the ignition switch goes back in all the way..........

If you use a flashlight and look down the ignition switch hole, you can see when the tumblers are lined up. Don't panic! It's seems a lot worse than it is. You can then unlock it after you put the switch back in.

Hey, I appreciate any help, I've tried putting the switch back in the hole and turning it, but the forks stay locked. I was wondering if it was an electric lock and needed the battery power to unlock. It may be just hard to unlock, I didn't really try putting to much pressure on the bars, but the switch turns easy when put in the hole. Thanks, didn't want to force anything.
I had the battery out looking for the circuit relay that the heated grips called for, but isn't on an 06 Ultra, but I just went into the main fuse with it.

At the bottom of the steering colum, in line with the ignition switch there's a housing with two allen screws in it(the screws are facing up) If you loosen these it might unlock for you. This is what I did until I got the ignition switch figured out.

The switch won't lift the pin with the collars and spring not in place located under the switch. Just loosen the two allen screws holding the switch down and lift it just a bit to loosen the lock pin. When you reinstall the swich with all the collars and spring, the switch will work accordingly!! I just went thru this problem removing my forks!
Opps, just saw harleykris covered it !!

The switch has to be completely seated. you can't just shove it in the hole and turn (I tried that too [&:])

Put the Switch back on just like if you were going to put it in when your finished...collars, spring, etc. you'll just be missing the faceplate.

Like it says in the Shop Manual . Put the key in the lock, turn it left, and make sure you hold the button underneath the switch starting a little past locked to the left reinsert the ignition switch and then turn it right (Basically the reverse of taking it off).

I just did this with mine whenI was changing the bars. Also lets you turn on the ignition for testing the stuff before you have to button stuff up. Just looked at my thread on the bar change but I don't have a picture of it on without the fairing stuff: https://www.hdforums.com/m_3109284/tm.htm
