I didn't go with HQ but man I tell you what this thing rocks noww I went with a 103 and some head work. I can't imagine these guys and there 113's or 120's man those things must be flat out mean.. this 103 is plenty for now

I love it talk about about a big smile when riding now.

if your spending the money do it right the first time

I just replaced the cams at first and that was just a tease.

and since I'm spending your money lets think about getting the motor painted/powder coated black and maybe diamond cut.

Yes, heads and cams can be plenty reliable as longas the cams are not too agressive.

BUT, I don't think you are going the right direction. The heads you have are very good in stock form to a point (and you have not reached that point yet).

First, the cams are compromise with emission and noise regulations. Change the cams.

Second,there is noreplacement for displacement.

Finally, match the cams to the final compression but don't get too agressive for your riding style. With a 103 BB,cast FT pistons and a .040"HGyou will be at about 10:1 compression. A cam with a40*-45* intake close will work well.

In the future I would like to do, What other people in here have done. I like seeing all the work on there motor just to redo it next year with something bigger. I have a bike with lots of mileage and some day the large engine sound nice to play with. Keep on riding, see the you on the road.

P.S. I almost lost it with MUC's good advice about doing a build right the first time--MUC isHDF's unofficial tester of cams (3 aftermarket), pipes (7?)and head work(twice to BigBoyz so far).
I said I'm a fan of doing it all at once, not necessarily doing it right the first time since there are so many "rights" to choose from.

Took 3 cam changes to find the best, took 9 exhaust changes to find the best, and then the proper headwork to bring it all together.

Trying to save a buck? Bored cylinders, forged pistons, heads ported byHQ or Bishop's or a reputable porter with a cam matching your riding style will be the ticket...

Thanks for everyone and their input on everything from y not do it all to y not to do it at all. This is what I want. I want a lil bit more of what I have. I wouldnt mind doin the whole thing, but I gotta remember, $$$$ does not go on trees. And with all that money Ive already spent between my old Street Bob to the SG (thanks for the comments about my bike btw) I think its time to just slow down a bit on spending that pretty penny. So here it is. I want a motor with more power than the 96" I have now. I do ride 2 up once in awhile with my wife, so torque would be a plus. I dont need a full blown race motor that needs 110 octane. Id like it reliable, although from what I heard from you all if I went with a reliable company to port my head....massage the ports if you will, I will be fine. Im not lookin to do a wheelie or do any stop light confrontations....most guys I ride with all have 88 inchers and I blow them off the line anyways. And Im not lookin for that dyno sheet to make everyone say WOW. Back when I was younger, I use to play with port n polished heads on a car and it used to help drag racing my friends (AHHH.....MANY MOONS AGO). So I figure instead of swappin out the sleeves or punching them a lil bigger for that bigger piston, I figure Id let it breath more by doin a mild port to my heads. Of course with my power commander, tuning will be involved. From what Ive said in this reply, do you think Im doing about this the right way. I really havent thought much about doing this to my motor as of late. Im still trying to learn how this the motor woks, since everythingsjust a tad bit smaller than a cager. THANKS AGAIN ALL!!!!

i agree do it all if you can... if you want more without the teardown..... i think a fat cat, intake, tuner, and a hq 0034 would really make it run sweet.... save the head work for when you go bigger on the inches...
