Default Need help changing windshield

Have a 4" windshield to replace the large windshield on my 2003 E Glide Classic. Loosened the 3 screws on outside of the fairing. Instructions say to loosen 2 screws on inside, but I don't see any. It seems to be loosening up when I work it back and forth a bit. My question is: Should I keep working it loose or are there 2 more screws that need to be loosened some where on the inside? Thought I had better ask before I break something.

the 3 screws are all that it takes. just take them all the way out and you can lift the windschield out.

Make sure you take the center one out and it should come off, The 2 screws on the inside are torx and they should be under the speekers.

You should loosen the two screws inside the fairing along with the three on the front. I think they are below the speakers if I remember right. It will make the job a lot easier.

Mike is right -- all that is normaly needed is to loosen the 3 screws, the windshield is notched and should pull straight up. You may need to rock it side to side due to a small amount of rubber selant that the factory put on it to reduce rattle noise. By loosing the faring screws on top would also alow you to widen the gap, but I have never had to go there.

Carfeul when you retighten them. You don't want to strip the brass nut out of the plastic they are molded into.

I changed my stock windshield out for a fastaire on my 2000 Ultra. The stocker was in since new as far as I could tell and it did present some resistance. Rock back and forth gently and it should pull straight up.

Thanks for all the help fellas. Valuable information can be had here. Got home from work today and went at it. With just a little wiggling it came out. Popped in the new tinted 4", stepped back and soaked in the new look. YES! Just what I was looking for.
