I have the stock HD windshield and I bought the three bag unit that attaches to the top of the fairing. The problem I am having is that the back of the bags is scraping against the back of the windshield and really destroying the finish. I tried placing soft felt pieces (like you place underneath table lamps) to stop this destruction. It did not do any good. I was thinking about using the soft side of velcro to stop this. Before I do this, has anyone found an effective way to save the windshield?

I used some weather stripping from Lowes. It was a small double hump type. I secured it to the windshield after I marked where the pouches would make contact. I also used it as a gasket to secure the gap that the bag clips made as I wanted no rattle at all. Works great and it blends in nice since it is black. You can see it but only if you look close. If you are interested I will post a close up picture.
I use a strip of Velcro between the bag and windshield to eliminate the vibration of the bags at low speeds. Works great. My windshield is black so it hides the strips well.
