Finally broke down and bought two I Pass transponders for the upcoming trips starting in a few days. Accounts are all set up, but we haven't traveled with them yet. NC doesn't use them.
Can these be carried in a windshield bag? Or a jacket pocket?
Or do they need to mounted on the windshield itself?
I have mine in a bag, that I carry around my neck and hold it over my head and under the transponder as I pass thru the toll gate. I haven't had much luck with them working in my pocket.. I don't have a windshield bag either. I can also tell you they did not work in my saddle bags.
The other state that I don't think uses Expass or I pass is Ohio.
I may get static for this, but after a lost Ipass transponder, I dont carry one on my bike. I have my bike's info and license plate on the IPASS website, so when they check the video of a bike and look up the license plate number to get owner info, my account pops up. They charge my account. I had one letter show up in the 8 years I have been doing this. Called them up and gave them my account number and no issues.
this may come back to bite me later, but for 8 years been good.

I like in IL BTW. YMMV.
I do the same. here we have to put down a deposit for the transponder and its like $0 or so. I am a cheap a$$ and only have one transponder to cover my truck, van, work truck, wifes car, and bike. as long as they have the info the ipas takes a picture of the plate and matches it with their files and your ok. if there ever is a problem, they will send a ticket and all you have to fdo is call it and it all goes away.
since you already got the ipasses just toss em in the saddlebag where you wont loose them and at least you got them.
