Here in NYC we have EZ-Pass. Some toll plaza's have a control arm and some just a message board. If the message board says "Toll not paid." No problem, they link your LP to your account. If the pass is not recognized at a control arm, you are stuck there till an officer comes over and helps out. That is the main reason for not putting it in my saddlebag.

I guess if you don't have any toll plaza's with a control arm, then you are fine.

FWIW...I started having trouble a lot at plaza's with the arm. My EZ-Pass was about 12 years old. I went to their office and exchanged for a new tag and now no problems. I would guess that there is a battery in there that was on it's way out.

FWIW, I have a RG. have tried it in the fairing and did not have consistent luck there. I had an expierience with the arm and it was quite embarrassing. I now have it in my right saddle bag. its placed at same angle as if it was in a car (front part of bag). Riding like that for a year and no problems. I like it better than the fairing so if i do need to show for some reason, i now can. just my 2 cents.

Here in the Sunshine State, we have SunPass. I only have one transponder, and it usually stays in my truck. However, I have my bike registered on my account as well, so if I forget it I just go through the Epass/SunPass lanes and let the state deal with it.

However, I try to remember to grab my transponder, I just stick it to the inside of my windshield, or will stick it in my pants pocket. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I thought about getting one of the permanent mount transponders and putting it inside my faring, but I am not sure if I want to spend the money for one for as little as I use toll roads with my bike.

Harley just came out with a "Toll Tote" that you place on your tank. It has 4 magnets build in. You can use it on your bike or in car.
Here is the link.

I had mounted on my left saddlebag lid and it wouldn't get recognized on the Ohio Turnpike. I took it out and put in my pocket. Works fine there. I will probably put it in a windshield bag when I get one.
