Anyone got a pic of an EG, or SG with a King tour-pak using the forward detachable hardware? I don't use my tour-pak much but will be taking a trip next month. I had the rear mounts on it but wanted a cleaner look, so off they went, and since I always ride solo I'm thinkin that I could use the forward mounts and use the tour-pak as a back rest. Any opinions and pics either good or bad would help. Did a search, but came up empty. I know I'll need a solo seat and the hardware, anything else I might need? Thanks
Had that same question a while back.. I think "ICLICK" has a beautiful pic of one on his bike..
I bought the chopped tourpac and am getting ready to order the hardware, and get it painted..!!
Going on my solo trip in the next few months and love tha quick detach setup..!!
This is my '04 police model EG with the King TP mounted on a solo detachable rack:
I use a solo seat from a RK Standard.
The Corbin solo seats, at least some models, don't work with the solo detachable HD rack--the rear of the seat will be rubbed by the rack--IIRC Bobberino had a recent thread on this and some pics were posted.
I don't use a rider backrest and the TP is very seldom on the bike. Obviously,if you use a rider backrest normally, the TP's backrest will be higher than the rider backrest--also you won't be able tohave both on the bike at the same time.
The bike handles better IMO with the TP on the solo rack and its weight over the rear wheel rather than hanging off the back of the bike. Haven't taken a long ride with the TP on the solo rack; only swapped out the two-up rack a month or so ago.
The TP mounts to a solo rack in exactly the same way that it attaches to a two-up rack--five bolts, spacers, nuts, and U-tube--the only difference is the rack itself.
Edit:Because my police bags are hinged differently than the civilian bags, it's necessary to raise the TP about 3/4-1" to provide clearance to open the lids--I used hard rubber automotive bushings, washers, and longer bolts.
