thanks for the responses guys. I never had it lowered and it is an 08 with all stock fluids. it seems to be leaking from the very bottom of the fairing and running down the left fork. I see alot of bearing grease but this is oil............. like splashes on the tank it looks like possibly the top of the fork.
I had this problem too.
Back in the early 80's I'd race around on my Z-1 900 kawy and when the law was on my tail, I'd hide my beverage up in the fairing, but as I'm getting out my lic. and reg. to show the MAN, I would hear my beverage sizzling on the pipes as it ran down the front of the bike.
Not sure what color it was...it was dark out.
I turn my own wrenches. When I grease the steering head bearings I use synthetic grease. It doesn't melt like the crap Harley sells. I make sure there is plenty of new grease to fush out the old and then I take some time and clean up the excess. My question is this - How much grease do you have to pump into the steering head bearing to have it splashing back on the tank and mirror and running down the fork leg? I just can't imagine that much grease in that area.
