+1 on the K&N filters. Before I got the K&N's I used wide jaw channel locks...worked great. But the nut on the K&N is the cat's meow.
And...no, I don't think a K&N filter would void any warranty unless they could prove that the filter caused damage which it won't. The KN-171 is made for the TC-88 and probably several others.
i bought the correct cup style size at autozone...$4.00
could not get it to work easily..would hit wires etc.
got the dremel tool out..cut straightline on cup from 2 o'clock to 4 o'clock..toss out cut-off piece
basically it looks like the one HD sell with the sensor cut-out...
+1, I use the same wrench for everything. My boat has three different size filters that have to be changed every fall. I can use one wrench on all off them. Plus the truck, harley, and mower.
ORIGINAL: dirtdobber
I use this. It will get the toughest lose. I have had it for several years now and I haven't found a filter placement that it would not not work with.
I've used strap wrenches, modified wrenches, screw drivers, K&N filters, etc. I finally broke down and bought the Harley oil filter wrench part # HD-44067-A for $9.95 at the dealer. Why I didn't buy it long ago and save myself a lot of trouble I just don't know.
