I was on eBay and one of his auctions came up. It looks very similar to the shape of the original, but it's quite a bit less.
If you have one, please comment on the quality. If you have a pic that would be great too.
I haven't used or had his tour pax but I have used one of his classic front fenders. Very good quality, held up good. I would do it again because of his service and quality if I needed another.
I too am interested....been thinking of a tourpak for the longer trips.....but hate to spend a Grand for something that doesn't get used much.....hope to see some opinions and pics
I asked about the dimensions of the pak - they are very close to the same as the HD king, but a tad shorter (8" tall). Not enough for a full face unless on it's side, but certainly enough for what I'm looking to haul around, and stuff a half helmet in there from time to time.
I'm going to give one a shot as soon as I can line up paint to match my bike. He's got about a 10 day production backlog right now, and no blems in stock.
could you get a blem at a discount? i've looked at these befor also butf orget if they come with hinges and locks? keep us posted on how it looks and works.
Keep us posted on the total cost of your project. The HD "base" number for comparison purposes for me would be about 625 USD which is the delivered cost of a color-matched HD King TP purchased from Zanotti's (20% off retail).
Also, the HD TP comes with a steel plate in the bottomthat isNOT available for seperate sale, though they show up on ebay at times, and, of course, you could fab your own. Whether the steel plate is necessary to prevent cracking the bottom of the box or not, I don't know.
I dont have that exact one but I do have a "clone" tourpac bought off ebay. The pic is crap, but the TP is pretty good quality. Yes, it will need a steel plate for the bottom or it will break. I sprayed the inside with paintable rubberized under coating to give it a durable finish and protect the fiberglass.
