If you have a weatherproof GPS, use the ipod like features from it to play .mp3 files. Almost all of them do. I am saving for the Zumo 550 and the blue tooth headsets to do just that.
I ran the wire into the front aux jack on the radio and ran the wire under the tank console. I did the same for the power cable. I then used Velcro to atach the ipod. Makes it easy to get to and remove. One day I would like to get a waterproof case for it, but I mostly listen to XM radio.
Gilsbro where on this forum has a set up he makes out machine aluminium and I mounted to the throttle side of the bike that way I can use my thumb to change between songs whille i ride. I used a jack from radfio shack to the radio and back to ipod hide extra wire in fairing.
I had promised the guys(at RidersClaw) I would post a comment about their product when i recieved it and failed to do so because I was sick to begin with and then rode 550 mileseach way non-stoptoDaytona Bike week and partied too much and ended up with pneumonia for the entire month of March.
So my apologies to the folks at Riders Claw for this late review.
I have an Ipod Nano and the slip-on carrying cover has a clothespin type clip on the back. I simply clipped it to the right-hand brake cable on the handlebar. Then, used the plug-in wire to connect the Ipod to the radio input jack. Granted, I can't change tunes but simply let it play. But, for two hours at a time it's fine. I need a break by then anyway. Easy, no drilling, wiring, etc. And, when you stop, simply unclip it and put in the tourpack for safe keeping.
ridersclaw was my choice. It competes with gilbos product but it is already chromed which is what I needed. Both products are good and work the same and if you want other options of color or coating, go with gilbos. The people at ridersclaw must have been feeling the pressure from gilbos because they lowered their product to $95.00. I figured it was less expensive for me than having to find a chromer or powdercoater since I have little time to do things lately. $20 was something I could live with. Just didn't have an extra couple of drinks at the bar this week.
