Damn, and I thought for almost forty years that all my Harleys were noisy because that was just the way they were. Maybe my 07 has IDS and I never noticed. Yes I can hear 5th gear but I also hear 1,2,3,4 and 6. Does anyone know if they make anything that will quiet the exhaust and the wind? [8D]
I still think IDS is not necessary. OK, maybe for a sissy.
On some 07 bikes(touring models)mainly,in 5th and sometimes 6th,you can hear a rattle that sounds like a rock or marble in a can, usually gets worse as the engine gets hotter.Go to search and type in IDS there is enough reading on the subject to keep you entertained for hours.Every one who has put a IDS on has said it cured the noise, plus makes the bike smoother.Call me what you want,I just want my chit right.

Well not completely for all of us, but the noise is greatly reduced. I went from unrideable to tolerable. There are several others.
Installed IDS myself and I have to say my bike rides smooth as glass now, took me about an hour to install by myself. Changed it from a nice ride to a great ride, feels like my old 2005 electra now.
