Thats if you live in Boston, Massachusetts. I live 35 miles north of Boston, in Massachusetts and pay just over $500. We here in MA do not have the luxury of shopping for our insurance. We have to deal with companies that are located here. Geico and Progressive are not available to us here. Our rates are dictated by where we live. Wanna live in Boston? Pay more. Wanna live in a small New Englang/Massachusetts town? Pay less.
Just switched to Foremost from Progressive (for an 06 EG and a 05 FLSTC I pay $913/yr). I didn't like Progressives contribution to the ALCU nor it's chairmans stance on guns (i.e., anti)! Figure this is a way that I can make a statement and also get good coverage.
I just went with Wolverine because I had dinner with a couple who had an accident last year on their Goldwing. The couple said Wolverine dealt with thier claim immediately. Thier friend with Progressive took months to settle. I insured three bikes for $1050.00 full coverage(Softail Deluxe, Road King, Goldwing). Much to my surprise, last week I received a check for $365.00 from the company because the touring bikes qualified for a 25% discount and we got a 10% mature rider discount.
The reason we buy insurance is in the event of an accident whether our fault or not. It is my experience that Progressive goes above and beyond in their claims handling. They contact you within 2 hours of reporting an accident and in most cases will have payment made within the week. As long as you're truthful with the adjuster your claim is handled quickly. You can expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $500 annually depending on the type of coverage and limits. Of course this depends on your driving history. Any violations and you'll be paying more. Hope this information helps. I would not deal with any company "on line" or via the phone i.e. Gieco.
Oh, by the way....I've been an insurance agent for over 13 years. My husband asked if I would respond to your question.
Susan, I agree with you on why we buy insurance; however, in my case I was satisfied that Foremost (which is owned by Farmers Insurance Group) would be just as good as Progressive and just as responsive. Also, the yearly rate was very comparable. The upside is it gave me a chance to let Progressive know that I don't appreciate it's Chairman's politics. I have done this with many companys (e.g., Levis which I haven't purchased in years because of their stance on the Boy Scouts and guns) so I am not just singling out Progressive.
