I was also looking at the 21, but I do want some topend, and I don't do much two up or heavy touring so I was leaning toward the 37, a bit more aggressive.
If it were me (and it's not), I would choose several others before the 37... like HQ500, RR525, Woods 6-6. These are all good as bolt-ins, and better with headwork & increased compression.
The 37 is really better for lighter bikes and really needs about 9.5~9.7:1 CR. Check the description on the Andrews site. If it has to be Andrews... I'd go for the 26 or if want a little more, then the 54.
Thanks PhilM, I initially was looking at the woods tw6, but Bart kinda talked me into the Andrews, but I think you might be right the 26 would probably be better for what I'm doing right now. I do plan on doing a complete build down the road, but that might be a while, just wanted something till then. I didnt' see the 54 on the website? just 44 and 50.
I'm running the 37H's in my 07 Road Glide. Really nice torque from 2200- 6000. I hit my rev limiter at 6250 pretty regularly. I ran with a bud on a hopped up 95" Dyna the other day and he didn't get past me till I hit 118mph. Not bad for a tuna boat! A lot of people will tell you not to run em because the torque don't start till around 2k but where do you ride? Right between 2k & 6k right. These cams run strong where you ride!
I ran the 37's in my last bike and they were great. Put the woods 6-6's in my new bike, night and day difference. I know the raw #'s look almost adenticle but trust me, the woods is a monster compared to the andrews. I highly reccomend it!
I guess what I need to find out, is how any of these cams will work with stock heads. It sounds like the 37's need a bit more compression, and the woods will work both ways. I'd like to find out more about the Andrews 54, I've read a little bit now, but they don't list them on the website.
My bike right now is basically a Stage 1. True duals, air cleaner, and the DTT. This year I'm doing mostly bling upgrades, and next year I hope to do a big inch build(budget and wife permitting). But untill then, I want a simple bolt in cam to wake it up a bit more.
I'm still running stock compression @9.2:1. I'll shave the heads when I bore her to 103" but I have no pinging or starting problems with the stock heads.
