I second Progressive. I live in Florida and Progressive was lower than anyone else. I had a claim about 5 years ago when my granddaughter hit my bike while driveing my golfcart and my rates never went up. They even went to dealer and noticed a scratch that I nor the dealer had noticed and paid for it. I don't have the medical because I have good medicalinsurance.
I have direct insurance from Progressive, I just paid mine 2 days ago. Full coverage on my 05 glide and 02 sporty. Just under $500. $496 for the year I am thinkin. I paid better than that for 1 year in Michigan for 1 bike with half the riding season!
I am thinking of moving from AR to FL. So I called my agent (Geico) and asked what would be the cost of insuring my 2 HD ('06 Dyna and '08 Road King Classic). I currently paY $ 547 a year. If I move to FL it would be $ 2047!! Is there a cheaper alternative?
Oh and we get ya'all Northerners when ya come on down to see Mickey! LOL, Good luck with your move Dude!
It's Florida! Expect a higher premium but it shouldn't be THAT much higher. Sounds like someone's trying to stick it to you. I pay $612.00/year through State Farm. I've shopped it all over and no one can get close.
When you get here, watch out for the old folks usually driving big Lincolns and Cadillacs. If you can't see the driver, it'll be a 150 year old man/woman who wouldn't see you in a million years.
Alot we are not taking into account...age...driving record....maybe we don't want you in Florida.....lol...... you can't be any worse than the blue hairs we have here now, come on down.....enjoy your stay.......spend your money.....and then go home..........lmao.......[sm=escape.gif]
i went with progressive through hd. i tried going straight to progressive but they were more. could be you were quoted such a high price because they don't want to insure any more bikes at this time? my car ins is through usaa. when i got my sporty in 02, i got a quote from usaa that ran about 600 for 6 months. i asked the girl on the phone (jokingly) if they didn't want to insure bikes and she admitted as such. she even said that she has her bike insured through progressive. they quoted me 125 for the year. fast forward to now. 2 road king customs (both 07s) no sporties, and still with progressive. i pay 700 per year for both. including roadside assistance, an extra 1000 for 'aftermarket accessories/gear'....
if you do decide to go with progressive, or if you're just rate shopping, be sure and check through hd, and also direct with progressive.
Geico and Progressive (ugggh! Hate 'em!) quotes couldn't even come close to AAA for my coverage, $ 290/year for over 7 years... and I shop around during renewal and they (AAA) stillcan't be beat!
