Well...nice thing about inspections is they are done at the dealership...usually the one that made the modifications to begin with.

Who's gonna tell???????

Enjoy it while you can. If they keep screwing us the way they usually do, eventually you'll be riding a Harley that sounds like a wing.

...Since the ECM is the main emissions controller on the new motorcycles, would doing any of the
above be considered illegal.
Now I understand aftermarket suppliers of fuel controllers etc, must get an E.O. number before
they can be installed on a street licensed pollution controlled M/C certifying that emissions
have not been adversely changed to be outside of EPA limits.
And the SERT has a disclaimer race only not for pollution controlled M/C (vehicles).
So if you or dealer installs the SERT and do not certify emissions are within range, would the installation be illegal?
Again looking for links to Government certified decisions and rules on this
Havinga fight with your dealer or a vendor Choo?

My apologies two different questions in one subject
emissions pollutants and noise pollutants.
since EPA says it is illegal to remove, modify, tamper, alter or bypass emissions control
devices............

The answer to questions is yes.
Anytime the emmisions system has been modified, changed or whatever this will make it illegal.
In Ca. any aftermarket product that has something to do with emmissions needs a CARB EO. sticker.
Even if the emmision system has been modified with something that does not have the sticker and the vehicle passes the sniff test it will fail the test. There is also a visual test when doing a smog test.Of course this depends on the inspector that holds the smog license.

Yes, the ECM is an emissionsdevice and changing it will render the bike non compliant.

Think of it this way, when the EPA started all this crap in the 70's the first thing the car manufactureswere forced to dowas block access to the mixture screws on your carburetor. Changing the mixture effects the emissions. The SERT is no different. The lean mixture that comes from the MOCO is set up to meet the EPA's requirements. Change the mix, change the emission.

Personally, I don't care. Motorcycles don't produce enough emissions to matter in the big picture The EPAwas madevery aware of this fact and chose to begin regulation anyway.
