Default exhaust popping

i have an 06 SG with HD stage 1, with vance & Hines tru dual headpipes and 64903-99 screaming eagle mufflers. When i installed the head pipes, the bike started popping alot, never did before. i then bought a fuel pack, but still have some popping. The people at V&H have been helpful, but have not been able to get rid of the popping. The popping happens on decel below 2000 rpm. My plugs are perfect color and the bike runs great and my fuel mileage increased in the 70 to 75 range. Its just that damn popping, sounds like a honda LOL

Fuel milage 70-75 what??? Miles per gallon....are you serious....I've never heard of anyone getting that much.

Oh sorry, just reread your post....increased milage at that speed. Whew...for a minute there I thought I needed to get me a fuelpak.

I have the same mufflers on my Electra Glide Classic as well as the H-D Stage 1 setup. No fuel management system though. At first the decel popping was pretty bad, but then I had the standard 8 degree fuel injectors replaced with 25 degree. The popping was reduced quite a bit, but not eliminated. I don't know if it can ever be totally eliminated, but I really don't care because it doesn't really bother me. The popping is unburned fuel in the exaust system igniting. I understand that this is a result of a slightly richened fuel mixture from the download. Not a condition that is bad for the bike, it just aggravates some riders.

I have no experience with V&H. I have a PCIII on mine and had it tuned at FuelMoto by Jamie. By the way, I love my PCIII, if your up for a change check out Fuel Moto online.

Anyone with a Fuel Pack? Can it be tuned??
